Education
The mission of the Choctaw County Public School District is to provide all students with the opportunity to develop academically, physically, socially, technologically, and emotionally to their greatest potential in order to become self-sufficient, productive members of the twenty-first century society. The Choctaw County School District consists of three fully accredited elementary schools and two fully accredited high schools. This district was among the first in the state to have fibernet (high speed internet connectivity) and one of the first to pilot early childhood education. The Choctaw County Career and Technology Center, located in Ackerman, is a public secondary vocational-technical facility which serves the students of Choctaw County.

Choctaw County Private School
French Camp Academy
In addition to the public schools of Choctaw County, French Camp Academy, situated on a 1,200-acre campus in French Camp, is a Christian school-home that offers an excellent private school education for students in grades 9-12. Younger students may board at French Camp Academy but will attend French Camp Elementary, a public county school, until they reach the 9th grade. A student work program supplements tuition and gifts and also provides a variety of opportunities for youth to develop skills for future vocation or post-school training. Over 85% of French Camp Academy graduates go on to college or some other form of higher education.

Sumners Foundation
The Sumners Foundation is one of the largest private educational funds in the state. Virtually any student who is a resident of Choctaw County, passes the college entrance exam, and maintains a C average or better may receive tuition assistance at one of four institutes of higher learning in the state. Call the participating institution for a Sumners Grant application.
