Transportation
Located in the center of the Southeastern United States, Choctaw County is within 500 miles of over 75 major metropolitan areas representing more than one-third of the nation’s population. Highways, rail, air, and water provide convenient access to many of the Southeast's and Midwest's major cities and commerce centers. This makes shipping, receiving and business travel more convenient and less costly.
- Interstate 55, running along the north-south corridor from Illinois to Louisiana, is located about 40 miles to the west and is connected to Choctaw County by Mississippi Highway 12 and US Highway 82.
- Interstate 20, a major east-west transportation artery is linked to Choctaw County by Mississippi Highway 15.
- Mississippi Highway 25, a four-lane highway providing direct access to Jackson, is accessed by Mississippi Highway 15 about 4 miles south of Choctaw County.
- U.S Highway 82, a four-lane east-west transportation artery at the northern border of Choctaw County, is linked by Mississippi Highway 9 which originates in Ackerman.
- The Natchez Trace Parkway offers a scenic, non-commercial route from Natchez, MS to Nashville, TN.
- Kansas City Southern provides rail service to Choctaw County. KCS is a Class 1 rail system which operates over 2,728 track miles in 11 central and southeastern states. With connections to all the other Class 1 rail carriers, KCS is strategically positioned to serve the growing number of North American shippers requiring reliable, efficient rail transportation.
Air
- The Ackerman / Choctaw County Airport is a lighted, 3,000 foot general aviation airport with plans to expand to 3,500 feet.
- Commercial air flights are available only 30 miles away at the Golden Triangle Regional Airport, and the Jackson International Airport is within an easy two hour drive.
